Tower mechanics

I changed the tower mechanics today, and I am hoping to finish it next class. I have it set up where when the mites hit a trap a counter appears, and other mite groups can move through until the trap is cleared. Clearing the trap is my current problem. I'm trying to figure out how to set two variables for the "if" scripting. I'll try to update the base to where the forest degrades when a mite group hits it.

New Ideas

After working on my game today, I had an idea. The current gameplay on what the character does isn't available to the average person. But now I think that once the mites stop the character has to follow the mites' path to find their source. There he will find out that the even a normal person can easily help fight against invasive species.

Preparing for the Presentation

I am now done with the demo and am preparing for the presentation next class. I think I'm slightly nervous about it. The main thing I'm working on is trying to avoid any "Uuhmmm..." moments.

Semester 2

Today we started the second semester of globaloria. I didn't do much other than complete the mid-year survey. Hopefully I will get to continue working on my game.

Tutorials

Today, I have been working on the tutorials that I had put off. I don't like the fact that that I can't just use the game file that I've been working on to fill out the tutorials' requirements. I've actually already done most of the things in the tutorials in my gamefile.

Vlog Time!

Been a While.

I haven't really updated my blog in a while, so I'm a bit behind on posting blogs for the various assignments. I'm going to attempt to cover some of the things I missed in this post.

PLAYING TO LEARN
I played Elemental Elegance and A-maze-ing Math
  • What did you learn from your choice of games and genres to review?
    • I learned about what happens when various elements are combined.
  • Name any game features that stood out to you, either because they were interesting or because they could be improved.
    • What stood out to me was that in A-maze-ing Math the goal was to add up numbers to get to 100, but sometimes the door would unlock when you don't even have 100 yet.
  • Write down any questions you have about the game or genre you chose. You might answer them yourself later!
    • I don't have any questions actually.
PLANNING YOUR GAME
  • How did your team work together to come up with the idea and all the details of the game? What excites you most about your game idea?
    • I'm actually the only one on my team, and what excites me is that I might actually be able to do a decent game this year.

CHOOSING A TOPIC

  • Write a blog post explaining why you chose this topic. Include links to your three sources.
    • I don't have any real reason for choosing my topic, other than that I found it a slightly interesting.
    • Site #1
    • Site #2
